How it works

Servings per day = (daily kcal × (1 − treat %)) ÷ kcal per serving

The treat allowance defaults to 10%, the widely used veterinary ceiling for non-complete foods. Get the daily kcal from our calorie calculator — it passes the number straight here.

Frequently asked

How much wet food should I feed my cat?

Most adult cats need 2.5–3 standard 3 oz cans a day, but it depends on calorie density. Divide your cat’s daily calories by the kcal per can on the label.

How many cups of dry food should a cat eat?

Commonly about ½ cup a day for a 4–5 kg adult, but dry foods range from 300 to 500+ kcal per cup. Always calculate from the label.

Should I mix wet and dry food?

Many vets like mixed feeding: wet food adds moisture, dry is convenient. Split your daily calories between the two.

How many meals a day should a cat have?

Adults do well on 2–4 smaller meals; kittens need 3–4. Puzzle feeders help indoor cats.
